Pool Enclosure Rescreening

The average pool cage screen lasts five to eight years. When yours has faded, gone brittle or started to sag, a full rescreen gives you a tight, clean enclosure again, usually in a single day.

Signs it's time to rescreen

  • The screen has turned gray or off-color instead of a rich black.
  • It feels brittle, or tears when you press on it.
  • Panels are sagging or pulling loose from the frame.
  • Several panels have already been patched.
  • The cage was last rescreened more than five or six years ago.

Under the sun, screen loses its protective coating. Once that happens it fades and stiffens, and the next storm tends to finish it off.

What makes a rescreen last

Two things decide how long a new screen lasts: the screen itself and the installation. This is not the place to save a little money on cheap mesh. We install Phifer screen, which is built to stand up to the Florida sun.

Installation matters just as much. Our panels go in neat and tight, one at a time, so there's no sagging and nothing pulls loose. That part of the job is where we take the most pride.

How long it takes

Depending on the size of your cage, a full rescreen takes as little as a day, or a couple of days for the largest enclosures. Screen doors on the cage are rescreened as part of the job.

Choose your screen

Standard 18x14 fiberglass suits most homes. If no-see-ums are a problem, or you have dogs that jump at the screen, there are better options. See what's the best screen for a pool enclosure for the differences.
