What Is the Best Screen for a Pool Enclosure?
The best screen depends on your needs. How long do you want it to last? Do you have pets? Are no-see-ums or blowing dirt a problem? Here's how the main options compare.
Standard: 18x14 fiberglass
If you don't have any special needs, standard 18x14 fiberglass is the right choice for most pool cages. Quality matters: we use Phifer screen because cheap mesh wears out fast and you end up paying for another rescreen in a couple of years.
Keeping out no-see-ums
Almost any screen keeps mosquitoes out as long as the door is closed and no panels are damaged. No-see-ums are another story: they slip through regular mesh. No-see-um screen has a tighter weave made specifically for them, for the most relaxing, bug-free pool and lanai.
Durable pet screen
Pets are family, but their claws are hard on screen. Pet screen stands up to sharp nails from dogs and cats, so they can roam the enclosure without tearing it.
Keeping out dirt and debris
If dirt and debris blow into your pool, a denser privacy and debris screen on some panels cuts that down and gives you privacy as well.
